Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating various machines to trim, cut, plane, and grind stones to precise specifications. Your work will be subject to final inspection, ensuring high-quality results.
Responsibilities:
Stone Cutting:
- Cut stones from bricks according to blueprints, ensuring accurate size and shape.
- Set up and adjust machines for cutting, considering different grit sizes and hardness.
- Perform first piece verification to validate setup accuracy.
- Inspect and separate non-conforming parts, making decisions on salvage, repair, or scrap.
Holder Preparation and Mounting:
- Prepare holders by sandblasting and straightening them as per specifications.
- Mark designated part information on holders using punch press and engraver.
- Hand-mount stones to holders using glue.
- Inspect and separate non-conforming parts, ensuring cosmetic and size control.
Finishing:
- Prepare slabs for sizing and blocking using drying methods like ovens and centrifugal spinners.
- Apply sizing mixture using an air-assisted spray system.
- Block slabs as instructed, using designated adhesive.
- Grind designated chamfer or radius to stones.
- Inspect and separate non-conforming parts, maintaining cosmetic and size control.
Assembly:
- Mix adhesive and operate automatic machines for assembling guides and holders.
- Perform manual assembly using fixtures and make necessary adjustments.
- Check parts for bond strength using break-off machine.
- Inspect and separate non-conforming parts, ensuring high-quality assembly.
Packing:
- Package stones as per work instructions.
- Mark cartons with part number, description, and date code using printing machines.
- Inspect and separate non-conforming parts, maintaining cosmetic control.
Administrative:
- Review order status and work schedule reports, addressing and resolving identified problems.
- Identify quality issues and collaborate with relevant personnel for resolution.
- Safely transport waste materials to designated containers.
Qualifications:
- Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions).
- Ability to read and interpret shop documentation, blueprints, and drawings.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Good problem-solving skills in standardized situations.
- Familiarity with production machinery and computer operations.
- Training in hazardous waste materials/transport (annual certification).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, pull, push, talk, and hear.
- Occasional stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
- Moderate physical effort, occasionally lifting objects weighing 25-50 pounds.
- Visual acuity for far vision, close vision, and depth perception.
Working Conditions:
- Working with dust, noise, solvents, glues, and machine shop hazards (one at a time).
- Climate Controlled facility
