FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

1. Troubleshoot tooling problems and concerns with manufacturing, engineering, and tool grinders; track and rectify tooling shortages, problems, or needs.

2. Maintain and direct incoming and outgoing tooling from tool crib.

3. Maintain complete and orderly storage and accurate records of all tooling stored in the tool crib.

4. Order new tooling from various vendors.

5. Operate computer to order tooling; e-mail various company members to check stock levels and tool descriptions; update and enter data.

6. Assist and/or coordinate special requests between manufacturing, engineering, and vendor for tool crib.

7. Monitor inventory levels to determine usage and re-order needs.

8. Evaluate dull tooling, including tool kits from manufacturing for proper disposition.

9. Work with outside vendors on purchase orders and technical assistance.

10. Assist through input and knowledge on special tasks or projects.

11. Coordinate with cutter grinders to assure availability of tooling.

12. Transports waste from process container to waste container.

Marginal Functions

Assist supervisor in establishing priorities and scheduling of work assignments.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop or crouch, kneel, reach, push, grasp, feel, talk, hear.

2. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less with the ability to bring objects into sharp focus.

3. The employee is required to lift more than 60 pounds frequently and/or 25 to 60 pounds continuously and move around large areas or to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects unassisted or with the use of a hand truck or hoist.

Working Conditions: Working conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Good working conditions. Worker may be exposed to disagreeable elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Requires high school level math, with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables and data bases.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments;
  • Make minor modifications to equipment and CNC programs.
  • Use computers to input data.
  • Interpretation of data and measuring devices requiring advanced skills and knowledge.
  • Equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied trades training.

Experience: Requires a minimum of three months up to and including twelve months to gain sufficient experience to perform the requirements of the position.

Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly, associated with this position:

1. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

2. Ability to deal with problems involving standardized situations.

3. Ability to use and read precision measuring equipment.

4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids

Computer, printer, fax, fixtures/tooling, gages.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Annual training in hazardous waste materials/transport will be performed in accordance with DOT, RCRA, EPA and OSHA. Training records are kept on site.
